September 29, 2012: It’s been another busy year. The Society of Illustrators has awarded me the silver medal in the Uncommissioned category in their Illustrators 54 annual for my piece “Infest.” Currently, it is being displayed on tour in the Society of Illustrator’s traveling show for annual 54. My work has been accepted to 3X3 ProShow No. 9. Some of my work is featured in in the book “Illustration Portraits” published by MaoMao publications in Barcelona, Spain and US publisher Rockport. Inkult magazine featured my piece ”Shelter” on their cover and showcased a selection of my work along with an in depth interview in their issue# 11. Some of my work also appeared on Beautiful Decays website on May 12, 2011 along with an older post on Hi-Fructose.com from December 2010 that I forgot to mention that’s worth taking a look at. It’s a selection of their favorite picks from the Nada Art Fair in Miami Beach. I also had the privilege of speaking to another class from the Emily Carr University of Art & Design. Finally, had a successful showing at the Tokyo Art Fair 2011 and Art Nagoya 2012 in Japan with the Yukiko Kawase Gallery. April 19, 2011: I will be traveling to Savannah, Georgia on April 28, to receive the Savannah College of Art and Design’s Distinguished Alumni Award.  Some other recent news: I was accepted in Spectrum 18, and one of my images will be in the upcoming issue of Bluecanvas magazine highlighting SVA’s Illustration as a Visual Essay program.


April 18, 2011: Opening! My solo show, entitled “Subcreation,”  previewed at the Yukiko Kawase Gallery this past Saturday, April 16. It will run from April 19 to May 14 at the gallery’s new space at 4 rue Auguste Barbier, Paris, 75011.



February 12, 2011: Had a busy few months. My work has been accepted to Society of Illustrators New York Illustrators annual 53 and Los Angeles annual 49, as well as Luerzer’s Archive 200 Best Illustrators 2011/2012. I also had the privilege of speaking at the first annual Nuts & Bolts conference at SOI, hosted by 3X3 Magazine, as well as to prospective students of SVA’s Illustration program. Coming up, I will be speaking to students visiting from the Emily Carr University of Art & Design. Finally, had a successful showing at the NADA art fair in Miami, Fla. with the Yukiko Kawase Gallery. Check out some of my new pieces from recent projects in the portfolio section.


July 1, 2010: My two medal-winning pieces for IL48 will be on display at the Icon 6 Illustration conference in Los Angeles July 14 through 17 alongside the other medalists.


June 5, 2010: A few updates:

       - One of my pieces is currently on tour in the Society of Illustrator’s traveling show for annual 52.

       - Other pieces have been accepted into American Illustration 29 and 3X3 Pro-Show 7.

       - Also, I will be speaking at the 3X3-sponsored Nuts & Bolts Conference, July 9-10.


March 21, 2010: My Romeo & Juliet series was accepted into CQ 19. Also, “Shelter” will be on their website.


March 12, 2010: Two of my pieces were accepted into the 2010 Applied Arts awards annual.





March 1, 2010: Spectrum awarded me the gold medal in their Comics category in annual 17. Check out all the winners here: Spectrum.


February 5, 2010: One of my pieces was accepted into Communication Arts 2010, issue 51.


January 27, 2010: “Shelter,” along with several others from the Paper Seeds series, will make its debut at Art Fair Tokyo (April 2 to 4, 2010).











January 1, 2010: Starting the new year with great news. Los Angeles Society of Illustrators has accepted four of my pieces into Annual #48, two of which garnered bronze medals.





December 16, 2009: Just wrapped up a book project for Scholastic. Stay tuned for the images.


December 14, 2009: The School of Visual Arts has chosen the Grey Rabbit as the cover of their new DVD for the program, Illustration as a Visual Essay.




December 1, 2009: I was accepted into Society of Illustrators’ book category, in annual 52.






November 10, 2009: I was accepted into New American Painting’s issue 86, Northeast region.


November 5, 2009: The upcoming December issue of Texas Monthly magazine includes a profile of me in their Contributors section.


October 10, 2009: I’m very excited to be exhibiting a continuation of my solo show "Paper Seeds" with the Yukiko Kawase gallery during the Art Fair Tokyo--a major contemporary art fair (April 2 to 4, 2010).

September 10, 2009: Studio Visit magazine has accepted me into their Spring 2010 issue. Also, Creative Quarterly 16 is now out on newsstands.


June 16, 2009: Opening! My solo show, entitled “Paper Seeds,” will open at the Yukiko Kawase Gallery this coming Monday, June 22nd. It will run through July 24th at the gallery’s new space at 4 rue Auguste Barbier, Paris, 75011.


June 6, 2009: Creative Quarterly 16 awarded me a silver medal for a piece in their illustration category, and accepted three others (one illustration, two fine art).


May 16, 2009: 3x3 Magazine has accepted one of my pieces into their sixth annual ProShow.


May 11, 2009: Here is my cover illustration for the latest comic anthology, Rabid Rabbit, soon to be debuted at MoCCA. Text by graphic novelist and illustrator, Sungyoon Choi. As a bonus, the issue features a soon-to-be classic by Neil Numberman.





May 9, 2009: Artension is on newsstands now... in France. This is the cover.





May 8, 2009: Two of my pieces were accepted onto the American Illustration 28 website. Also, check out my illustration page to see pieces from my most recent jobs. More fine art coming soon.



April 13, 2009: The prominent French fine-art magazine, Artension, will be writing an article on my work for its upcoming issue.




April 10, 2009: Leuzer’s Archive has included me in their next volume of 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide.


April 4, 2009: I was accepted into a third consecutive issue of Studio Visit Magazine.


March 15, 2009: Workbook.com will feature my illustration of James McAvoy on their homepage for the upcoming month.


March 8, 2009: Creative Quarterly has awarded me the gold and silver medals, and two merit awards, in their fine art category in issue 15. I received two additional merit awards in their illustration category.

February 15, 2009: I will be participating with the Yukiko Kawase Gallery in Slick Dessin, an art fair which specializes in contemporary drawings, at the end of March in Paris.


January 16, 2009: I’ve spent much of this year working on a series of large-format pieces for my first international solo show at Yukiko Kawase’s gallery in central Paris. The show opens June 20th, 2009. Check back soon to see some of the new pieces I’ve been working on.


January 10, 2009:

“Crying Wolf” will be one of thirty pieces exhibited in Savannah College of Art & Design’s alumni show, 30/30, which opens January 30th.




December 12, 2008: I will be exhibiting four pieces in a group show entitled “It’s a Small World After All” at Like The Spice Gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The show opens TONIGHT.


December 10, 2008: Savannah College of Art & Design has invited me to speak as part of its alumni lecture series the weekend of January 30th, 2009.


November 18, 2008:

Savannah College of Art & Design used my piece, The Oracles, as the image for their 30/30 call for entries poster.


30/30 is a juried exhibition open to SCAD alumni.



November 14, 2008: 3X3 Magazine, Vol. 4, no. 2 is in stores now. Also, The Genesis and Landlocked Blues were included in American Illustration 27, which came out this week.


October 15, 2008: Savannah College of Art & Design will include me in an upcoming show. More details to follow. Also, check out some of my recent jobs in the updated illustration section.


October 5, 2008: Studio Visit Magazine has included me in another issue. The magazine will be out Spring 2009. 


September 3, 2008: New art posted in the Illustration and Fine Art sections. Check back soon for more new work.


July 6, 2008: Like the Spice Two-Year Anniversary Show & Auction

Like the Spice Gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn is celebrating its two-year anniversary. Festivities include live music, food, and an auction of works by artists who have previously shown there.

  June 19, 2008: Gave a talk to a class of students from my undergraduate alma mater Savannah School of Art & Design led by one of my favorite professors ever, Durwin Talon.


  2008-2009 Traveling Exhibition Society of Illustrators


The legendary Peter DeSeve, Chairman of the Society of Illustrators selected one of my pieces, The Gift, to include in the 2008-2009 Traveling Exhibition along with 39 other illustrators from the 50th Annual.

My Justin Timberlake portrait was accepted in Communication Arts’ 2008 July Illustration Annual 49.






I will have a two-page spread in the upcoming issue of Studio Visit Magazine.




Two of my images are included in The Big Book of Illustration Ideas: 2, by Roger Walton, published by HarperCollins’ Collins Design imprint.






Three of my images are included in 3X3’s illo8 Illustration Directory, out now!







  It’s been another exciting year exhibiting my fine art and illustrating in New York City. I have continued to show in New York and Paris, and have shown in London and Tokyo for the first time this year. I’ve worked with a lot of great Art Directors on some great projects including the GRAMMY Awards for the second year in a row and a cover for the New York Time’s Science section.
